Payflows builds a SaaS platform for procurement, accounting, and treasury. My mission was to help implement their design system and build Vue.js dashboards from Figma designs.

The challenge: displaying massive amounts of financial data without the interface grinding to a halt. Aggressive caching, hydration strategies, and virtualization kept everything responsive even with thousands of rows in flight.

In markets where card networks are thin on the ground, people move money through mobile money. WeCashUp sat on top of that world: a clearer interface for transfers, contacts, and history than raw USSD; and a web dashboard for the people running the network.

Constraints that shaped the work

• Intermittent connectivity on the mobile side,

• multi-role access rules and high operational stakes

• Clear ownership of the web surface, architecture that could hold as the product grew, and delivery in production over a multi-year engagement.

I built and iterated the web platform alongside mobile and API teammates. Different roles needed different views of the same economy: end users, agents, dealers, operators. The product had to show what was happening in real time.

We are building one of the most complex FinTech infrastructure in the world to operate in Africa where internet connectivity is poor to collect realtime data, there is no unified KYC infrastructure to filter users against international fraud and sanction lists and where most people do not have bank accounts or cards to make online payments, but where there are more smartphones than people. It is a challenging environment for a Europeran FinTech company under GDPR where control and visibility on realtime data is key and Nicolas built a wonderful realtime dashboard to help us keep track on our users' transaction flows and behaviors. I highly recommend this talented and rare software engineer.
